Ok, so, I don’t know bout y’all, but anytime I tell my little ones that something is a contest they are all over it! This week, the contest was a Drug Free poster! I always love doing these each year. The kiddos always get so stinkin’ excited to see our class poster hanging up in our school cafeteria. Well, this year, the contest had a HUGE incentive for the kiddos. The class that wins, gets $30. Oh yes! So of course, as soon as I said that they got that much more excited! Cracks.me.up! They were already talking about what they were going to go buy with their money, who they were going to share it with… just hilarious!! So, after much brainstorming on a theme for our poster, we decided to go with DRUGS STINK! I love their responses on why they are drug free. 🙂 Even if our class doesn’t win, I totally think this is the cutest little poster EVER! Between making our skunks and writing why we are drug free, we managed to get all our other standards in too. For math, we have been knee deep in reading, writing and building numbers. You name it, we did it. I am pretty sure that they were numbered out by Friday. We used Amy Lemons’ Number Knowledge packet. She has lots of goodies in there. The kiddos loved this little number of the day activity from her packet. Monday, we will review building numbers with my Place Value SCOOT *freebie*. Every year, my group of kiddos just love this game! Anything to get them up and moving is a win for me! {Click any of the pictures to download} It’s FREE!! Because Halloween is just around the corner, we whipped up these bats for our writing this week. We used the {Bats} template and craftivity from my Writing Through the Year 1 unit. Here in Texas, narrative writing is a biggie. So, we wrote a realistic narrative story about a bat we saw at the zoo. If you are up for a little early trick-or-treat shopping, you can grab this craftivity and writing template at my store. Click {here} to check it out. Everything in my store is 20% off today and tomorrow! Happy Saturday sweet friends!
