I wanted to share a few Earth Day activities with you all….I know I am late in the game, but maybe you can pin them for next year.
Over the past few years, we have read The Lorax and created these 5W poems to summarize one of the characters from The Lorax story.
The Once-ler (who)
cut down truffla trees (did what)
a long time ago (when)
in the forrest (where)
to get rich. (why)
I let them choose if they want to write about the Once-ler or the Lorax.
The Lorax (who)
was in charge of trees (did what)
a long time ago (when)
in the forrest (where)
to help the Earth. (why)
These poems always turn out PRECIOUS!
We also make these silly Earth’s and write about what we can do to help keep our earth clean.
This is a picture take a few years ago, but we also make these trees and sort what helps our earth and what does not help our earth. We are finishing these up, so I have not been able to get a new picture.
You can find all the above activities here.
Switching gears over to math. The past few weeks, we have been learning all about non-standard measurement. On Friday, we made these dream houses and measured them with cubes.
….and with the end of year coming up (can you believe it?!?) we will be “Suiting Up for 2nd Grade” by making these soon!!!
You can find these here.
