We have been working on measurement the past 2 weeks. It is always one of my favorite things to teach in math. The kiddos are up and moving….quietly working, and engaged! That in itself can make it a fave for me!! 🙂
First, let me just give you a little heads up. All the pictures that you are about to see have been instafied.
Last week was all about nonstandard measurement. We started things off pretty simple. Each kiddo had to find 3 items from their desk and put the items in order from shortest to longest.
Things started getting really stinky later on in the week when they took their shoes off!! Yep, the Scentsy was plugged in and working hard to get our room back to a pleasant aroma!! For the activity, the kiddos had to trace and measure their shoe with 3 different forms on nonstandard measurement.
Pretty sure I’d wear those sparkly cuties on the left.
Next up,…DREAM HOMES!!! The kiddos had to create their very own dream house. Only rules…they had to measure in nonstandard measurement, and show at least 10 measurements. I love the way these turned out! These girls, went all out on their homes! I mean, seriously, I’d definitely take them up on building me a house!!
To wrap things up with nonstandard measurement, the kiddos completed this little diddy with flip flops. You can click {here} to download it.
I just had to share this adorable canvas one of my dear teaching buddies made for me. It is one of my favorite verses. I just love it. It hangs in my room for a daily reminder… especially with the summer fever coming on strong!!
I will be back soon with more measurement freebies!!
