Happy Labor Day friends! I hope you all had a wonderful and well rested 3 day weekend. The husband surprised me with an over night trip Sunday night to dinner and the mall. Um, first let me tell you that I have not been to a mall in over a year. Mmhmm. A YEAR people! Sheesh, no woman alive should ever have to wait that long to go to a mall!! Online shopping is just too convenient!
I wanted to pop in real quick and share a quick text to self connection that we did last week. We read Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon by Patty Lovell. This is such a wonderful book for teaching that we are all special, how to stand up to bullies, and to treat people the way you want to be treated. There are so many lessons throughout the book! After reading, my students helped me create an anchor chart of things we like about ourselves and then they created this craftivity and wrote what they like about themselves.
Some of my students added Molly’s buck teeth and some did not. If you do not have a copy of the book, you can watch a read aloud here.
Last year my students did this with Molly Lou when we learned about character traits. You can read more about it here.
You can find the Molly Lou craft here along with several other ideas to do with the book.
Hope you all have a wonderful week. This Mama is tired and ready for bed!
