We have been knee deep in reviewing our short vowel sounds. My kiddos have loved meeting each of our phonics friends. The friends have really helped the sounds “stick” with my kiddos.
I wanted to share a quick peek into my short vowel phonics packs with you all. I am going to let the pictures do most of the talking.
Each pack starts off with a fun friend to introduce the sound and set the stage for learning.
Along with each friend are large and small cards to sort by sound.
Each pack also includes a hat for each friend.
as well as word cards to use while building and decoding the words whole group in your pocket chart or in small groups during stations. The words can be left together, or can be cut apart for building the word.
Each pack also includes an “In the Middle” game where students spin a paperclip to build a real or nonsense word.
One of my very favorite activities is the Write the Room “Walk of Fun”. The kiddos walk around the room and answer each card. The cards consist of clues for rhyming, choosing the correct spelling, and decoding.
Each pack includes different interactive printables for students to complete independently or in stations.
You can find each of the friends above plus a few others by clicking here, or you can find them all in one bundle here.
….and here is a quick little video of the motions and sounds that go along with each of my phonics friend!
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
