6 more days and this chick is sleeping in!! Can I get a “HOLLA”?!? Even with 6 days left, we have not missed a beat. This week we are having lots of fun with our David Shannon author study. Is it terrible for me to say that I am so thankful we are done with our basals?! Those things drive me nutso! Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to so far! Tuesday, we started off reading A Bad Case of Stripes. I was so surprised at how many of my students this year have never read this book! Shocker! Needless to say, we had lots of good listeners at the carpet! After reading the story, we listed all the problems that Camilla faces throughout the story along with the different solutions. Afterwards, I let the kiddos choose 1 problem and 1 solution to use on their craftivity. They had to write the problem on one of Camilla’s bows, and a solution on the other. 
After writing the problem and solution, we then did text to self connection by writing about a time that we felt embarrassed. Seriously, the first one is fantastic!! It took all of me not to laugh out load when I read it! 
Isn’t that the best?! Today, we met Alice the Fairy! I think she is such a doll! During our reading, we wrote a list of character traits that described Alice throughout the story. Afterwards, the kiddos created their own magic wands. Then, I let the kiddos pick 3 traits describing Alice and write them on their wands. 
Then, we did another little text to self connection by writing about what we would do if we had a magic wand. 
Tomorrow, we will wrap up our study with reading Too Many Toys. I adore this book. Pretty sure my child can totally relate to this book! This past Saturday I met up to have lunch with the adorable Amy Lemons from Step Into Second Grade. I have read her blog for probably 2 years or so…before I ever started blogging, so it was so exciting to meet her. Who knew we lived so close!!! 
Our girls hit it right off! Before we left, they were already claiming they were sisters!
