A few years ago I shared a free Monster Math for addition and subtraction that several of you have used and loved. I recently added a few new templates to it that will work for preschool, kindergarten, or even beginning of year 1st grade. The new activities are for counting, representing, and modeling numbers.
FREE MONSTER MATH ACTIVITY
I plan on using the mat with my little guy at home for some additional practice with numbers. Bless that number 5! It’s been a tough one for him to write.
There are a few different ways that you could use the mat.
One: students roll a di and represent that number on the 5 frame or 10 frame and then write the number. You could also have them spell the number word under the box.
Two: verbally say the number that you want the student(s) to represent rather than them rolling a di.
After students practice with the mat, they can create the fun craft. These are PRECIOUS hanging on the door or displayed in the classroom and/or bulletin boards.
To create the craft:
glue wiggly eyes to the 5 frame or 10 frame and write the number in the box that their model shows!
Easy peasy!
