A few years ago I shared a free Monster Math for addition and subtraction that several of you have used and loved. ย I recently added a few new templates to it that will work for preschool, kindergarten, or even beginning of year 1st grade. ย The new activities are for counting, representing, and modeling numbers.
FREE MONSTER MATH ACTIVITY
I plan on using the mat with my little guy at home for some additional practice with numbers. Bless that number 5! It’s been a tough one for him to write.
There are a few different ways that you could use the mat.
One: students roll a di and represent that number on the 5 frame or 10 frame and then write the number. ย You could also have them spell the number word under the box.
Two: verbally say the number that you want the student(s) to represent rather than them rolling a di.
After students practice with the mat, they can create the fun craft. ย These are PRECIOUS hanging on the door or displayed in the classroom and/or bulletin boards.
To create the craft:
glue wiggly eyes to the 5 frame or 10 frame and write the number in the box that their model shows!
Easy peasy!
