Inclusive Classroom Read Alouds

Inclusive Classroom Read Alouds

My little one started kindergarten last week.  I truly cannot believe how fast time has flown by.  Feels like yesterday that we found out about his spina bifida and started his Facebook page.  He’s our miracle.  Cody and I cried all day!  He’s adjusting; it’s been a huge step for him and us.  I laid out all of his clothes this week as a visual countdown of how many days of school he has left for this week. Also, we have a 7th grader!!! What?? Why does time fly so fast? It’s a thief!

I gifted Bubs’ teacher some inclusive books for their classroom library. They feature children and characters that use wheelchairs. I love these particular ones because the wheelchair users are featured in a positive way and not as something sad. Naturally, I had to make a “wheelie” cool tag to go with them.

I also share different special needs reads that I find on IG with the hashtag #smittensspecialreads.  If you come across any books that feature disabilities, use the hashtag or let me know – I’d love to share!
