How to Catch Santa FREEBIE!

I love Jean Reagan's whole "how to" book series. They are THE cutest ever! When I came across her, How to Catch Santa, on Amazon...I knew I had to get it! It is just as precious in real life!  Last week we read the book and then came up with a plan on how we would catch Santa if we could. I got so tickled at some of these!!  Afterwards, my students wrote out their steps of how they would catch him on this little … [Read more...]

Frying up FRY words!

I don't know about y'all, but I am always trying to brainstorm ways to get my students motivated and excited about increasing their sight word fluency. I have been trying something new this year with my class that I shared over at Blog Hoppin', and I wanted to share with you all here too!  My district uses Fry's sight words. Each grade level is given a particular set to assess each student on. Our goal is that each child will … [Read more...]

Catching up with Back to School activities

Since I am not one to cook, much less prepare a meal ahead of time, I wanted to catch up on our back to school activities that we have done the past few weeks. Bare with me as I let the pictures do most of the talking. Here are a few of my favorites to do each year.  Last week we read If You Take a Mouse to School and completed this text connection.  You can find the mouse templates plus the writing stem here and … [Read more...]

Naughty and Nice visitors

After Duck Dynasty, a Sunkist, and going on a night time sight word hunt with Rapunzel, I am ready to share what we have been up to. Last week, in phonics, we learned about the *th* brother! He is the naughty one that likes to stick his tongue out. So after formally meeting him…. we were ready to go on a *th* hunt! We used our story in our Journey’s reading book to find words that had Mr. TH himself! After finding their words, the kiddos … [Read more...]

Classroom Management Linky

Hi friends! I am linking up with What the Teacher Wants to share how I do classroom management in my room. I cannot take credit for either of these ideas, but I had to share them because they are just that good!! When my amazing co-worker and blogging buddy, Shannon Kirby shared this idea with me of doing “Behavior makes Cents”…I knew I had to do it in my room. It is amazing. Check out her TPT store to snag it up. I also use Mel D.’s fuzzies … [Read more...]
