Five 4 Friday
Y'all. Today was the 100th Day of School. 'Nuff said. I'm exhausted from all my partyin'! I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for her Five for Friday. Although I am completely exhausted, we had a blast today celebrating our HUGE day! We all know party days can get a little crazy if we don't stay on our toes! Vowel Teams
I wanted to drop in real quick before I pick little man up from daycare and take Priss to Gymnastics! This week is our second week learning about vowel teams. Geez these things can be so tricky!! I have these posters hanging up in the room to remind the kids that the letters work as a team to make 1 sound! This week our focus is on ai/ay. I made these cheerleaders to (hopefully) anchor down our learning that these letters … [Read more...]
Inspired!
Something that sets teaching apart from any other profession is being inspired by others. Y'all, there are some amazing teachers out there! Last night I was wide awake! Bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed! I checked my Facebook and saw this post from Kickin' it in Kinder. I knew tomorrow was going to be a busy day with wrapping up punctuation, working on letter writing parts, and comparing numbers.....so I racked my brain on what supplies I … [Read more...]
Five for (Saturday)
Linking up with Doodle Bugs today for some Five for Friday fun. I had every intention to link up last night, but mexican food and my bed were calling my name! It's been a wild week! For grammar we worked on questions and statements. First up, we watched a Brain Pop Jr video to introduce the different types of punctuations and then sorted different words onto a question mark or period. Sticky note sorts are one of my faves! They are … [Read more...]
More skip counting
This week we continued our learning on skip counting. Skip counting can be tough for little ones - especially if you start at any given number. Here in Texas, starting at any given number is quite the big deal! To help with this, we used these number line ropes almost daily! You can read how to make these here. During small groups I gave the students a starting number and the skip counting pattern - then they had to … [Read more...]
We’ve got this!
Reading is all about comparing and contrasting this week. This is such a fun skill to teach. We started off talking about how a venn diagram can help us organize what is the same and different about two things. As a group we compared winter pictures on the board and then broke into table groups to show off our learning. Each table got 2 different winter pictures to compare and contrast. Check out this inventive spelling. It makes my … [Read more...]

I always like to have a variety of ways to practice so the kiddos don't get burned out. So, Sight Word Party was created! Here's a more detailed look into the party :) My kiddos love anything and everything that is Bingo! I wanted something that was editable so that I could change out … [Read more...]
Back to it!
Well, I am officially ready for bed! I woke up this morning all ready to go and mid morning I was dragging my feet! As much as I wanted to go back to sleep, the kids were ready to go! I knew I had to keep things going with little to no down time today. We are beginning to work on long vowel sounds (CVCe) so we started off by meeting our bossy friend E and making these hats. You can download the hat blackline … [Read more...]
