As you may have read in my last post, it was time for some MAJOR change in my classroom decor this year! Here's a little peek into my farmhouse chic inspired classroom. Free Classroom Decor Posters
This year I decided to completely change my entire classroom decor. I have been in the same classroom for 6 years and decided it was time for some change. For the majority of those years I had a Dr. Seuss themed room. Last year I changed things out here and there with different colors and patterns and it worked great, but this year I wanted something calming that created a home feeling. I created a few new posters to match my new decor. Y'all … [Read more...]
Math Journal Tidbits….
I've had a few ask about our math journals, so I thought I would do a quick post to show you how we use them and tie them into our math word wall. Our math curriculum coach shared these with us and seriously y'all, I don't know why I never did this before!?! I stalk Target ever summer waiting for their composition notebooks to be on sale. When they are, I snatch up a class set. I am not picky about them all matching, so I usually just grab … [Read more...]
Five 4 Friday and Freebies
Hi y'all! I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for some Five for Friday fun! If you read my post from yesterday, then you know we have been all about shapes this week. They had to think of different ways to sort and write it on their t-charts. Afterwards, each table group … [Read more...]
Pirate Day!
Today was our first day back since Elsa froze Texas. I love to look at snow, it's beautiful, but I'd much rather wear flip flops and a v-neck tee! Although, the ICE ice cream we made was delish! This week we are focusing on the sound of /ar/ and /or/. Super fun! I LOVE to get my kiddos excited about new learning, and hello,....I definitely want them to remember 1st grade as their BEST year ever! I found this tutorial online for my pirate … [Read more...]

Five for Friday!
I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for some Five for Friday fun! 1. Today we worked on synonyms. I LOVED the turkeys Cara from The First Parade posted last year, so I knew I had to tie them in to something this month! Synonyms it is! I added a pilgrim hat to the top for the students to write their word on. After making a list of different synonyms for each word, they wrote their synonyms on the feathers! Don't Be A Turkey! … [Read more...]

We celebrated all that we have learned in Math this year with a MATH-LETE Day today! It was loads of fun and super busy! We played games and did a few crafts. Needless to say, I am pooped!
