Something that sets teaching apart from any other profession is being inspired by others. Y'all, there are some amazing teachers out there! Last night I was wide awake! Bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed! I checked my Facebook and saw this post from Kickin' it in Kinder. I knew tomorrow was going to be a busy day with wrapping up punctuation, working on letter writing parts, and comparing numbers.....so I racked my brain on what supplies I … [Read more...]

We’ve got this!
Reading is all about comparing and contrasting this week. This is such a fun skill to teach. We started off talking about how a venn diagram can help us organize what is the same and different about two things. As a group we compared winter pictures on the board and then broke into table groups to show off our learning. Each table got 2 different winter pictures to compare and contrast. Check out this inventive spelling. It makes my … [Read more...]
Back to it!
Well, I am officially ready for bed! I woke up this morning all ready to go and mid morning I was dragging my feet! As much as I wanted to go back to sleep, the kids were ready to go! I knew I had to keep things going with little to no down time today. We are beginning to work on long vowel sounds (CVCe) so we started off by meeting our bossy friend E and making these hats. You can download the hat blackline … [Read more...]
A little bit of everything!
If you read my post early this week then you know we have been all about numbers for a while now. Today, we wrapped up place value with creating these Christmas/Holiday pictures by using the place value pieces from my Know Your Numbers Pack. The kids also had to identify the value of their picture and write the expanded form. I only had 2 rules! 1. The value cannot be greater than 99. 2. It has to be a holiday picture. Because we are always … [Read more...]
All about them blends!
We have been all about them blends, bout them blends, bout them blends! And the kids are having "no trouble" with them...{see what I did there?!?!} We have worked non-stop finding the blends in words, matching them to pictures, writing blends, and just about anything that deals with blends....we have done it! We sorted words that have final blends - and words that do not. We also created a Feast of Blends with … [Read more...]
Sequencing and Adjectives with Apples!
I am always looking for ways to bring in some cute crafts that focus on our weekly skills. Last week in reading we learned about sequencing. Since we use a basal in our district, we read the basal story to introduce our skill for the week and take a comprehension test on Wednesdays. That gives us Thursday and Friday to bring in other books for that skill and any cute crafts! On Thursday we made applesauce! We talked about how we were making it, … [Read more...]
Main Idea
Tomorrow is Friday my friends! This has only been my second week back in the classroom {last week we were in Houston for our angel baby’s surgeries}, and I am in need of a 2 day nap like non other! I need some serious sleep y’all. Like for real. This week we have been learning all about main idea, what it means, how to find it, and all that good stuff. Last year we started off with this, but this year, I wanted to change it up a bit. I don’t … [Read more...]

Math-letes, Poetry and David Shannon!
We celebrated all that we have learned in Math this year with a MATH-LETE Day today! It was loads of fun and super busy! We played games and did a few crafts. Needless to say, I am pooped! We started off by making our Mathlete hats and writing what our favorite thing about math is! I had lots of my kiddos pick basketballs for their hats, but footballs and baseballs were huge hits too! You can download the hat template for free {here}. … [Read more...]
